Recruit divisions work through a 12-hour BST-21 experience as a comprehensive test of the skills and teamwork learned during their eight weeks of basic training at RTC. Immediately following the event, the recruits participate in a capping ceremony where they trade their recruit ball caps for their Navy ball cap, signifying them as a United States Sailor. About 30,000-40,000 recruits graduate annually from the Navy's only boot camp. ( Navy photo by Ensign Seth Schaeffer/Released)
