Dog and Pony show in Castelo Rodrigo, Portugal
Castelo Rodrigo is a hilltop medieval castle in the scenic Douro Valley of Portugal. It has been listed as a national monument since 1922. Because of its strategic position, fortresses have been located here since Roman times. The current Portugese fortifications date from Alphonso IX in 1209. Throughout the centuries, Jews, Christians and Muslims have lived here in peace. Clearly, so do dogs and A note to non-Americans: a dog and pony show, in US colloquial usage, is an elaborate, over-staged and flamboyant presentation, usually for commercial or political purposes. And, in case you were wondering, this shot was NOT staged. Actually, it was only after reviewing the shot that I realised the joke!
