Giving up his college workat the outbreak of war, he made applica-tion and was accepted for the FirstOfficers Training Camp at Fort Sheridan,being assigned to the Tenth Company. After completion oftraining received commission and w^as or-dered to Wichita Falls as flying instructor,from which place he was assigned toBrooke Field, San Antonio, Texas, andthen to Loves Field, where he met was unmarried.
