Red clays with paleontological fossils of Mountain Kiin-Kerish. Zaisan Depression, East Kazakhstan
Kiin-Kerish is a monument of nature of the Altai-Sayan Eco-Region. It was formed due to eolation and erosion. Scientists found here a lot of prints of tropical paleogene flora and fossils of ancient animals (rhinoceros, crocodiles, turtles and salamanders). Fantastical ruins of bright red, orange, yellow and white colored towers and castles of Kiin-Kerish rises in front of a traveler among the vast straight Zaisan Hollow. That is why another name of Kiin-Kerish is ‘Glowing Rocks’. Often travelers compare this region with Planet Mars landscapes.
