Church of St Anne Shandon in Cork city Ireland St Anne s Church Shandon can be found on the North side of Cork City situated on a site where there is believed to have been a church since as far back as 1199 Built in 1722 the church has a faà ade made of limestone on two sides and red sandstone on the other two The clock faces are known by the locals as the four faced liar because up until 1986 when it was repaired each face showed slightly different times Visitors to this truly historical piece of architecture can take a guided tour of the churches tower and see the famed clock faces For a small fee you may even ring the famous Shandon Bells Anyone willing to venture to the top of the 120ft tower will be rewarded with an extensive panorama of the cityscape thanks to the churches elevated position
