Franklin Park, Illinois, USA. Historic switching tower B-12 that was originally owned and operated by the Milwaukee Road.

Historic switching tower B-12 that was originally owned and operated by the Milwaukee Road. Operators in the tower would use metal rods to manually throw track switches in and around a busy railroad junction. The tower was built in the 1890s and closed in 1996. A year later, in 1997, it was moved from the busy crossing about a half mile west to its present location in the middle of a small railroad park. The historic tower is a local landmark that remains by the line it protected for about a century.
