When I have successively made the horse readily yield to the whip, and to perform the lateral flexions with equal facility, I have then to combine both these movements into a single movement. I have at first taught him to yield to the whip from left to right, while helping the movement with the near snaffle rein, which draws the head to the left, so as to carry the croup to the right.
