BREMERTON, Wash. (Feb. 28, 2012) – Sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) take part in a foreign object debris (FOD) walk-down on the flight deck. FOD walk-downs ensure the safety of the personnel and equipment while keeping Nimitz in a constant state of readiness to receive aircraft. Nimitz is conducting a fast cruise for returning to sea for the first time since the ship’s Docked Planned Incremental Availability. The ship arrived to Bremerton, Wash. to begin its DPIA December 2010.
