L'Arc - two figures holding a curved pole that was inspired by Basingstoke's industrial past and close links with its European twin towns, UK
This piece (by David A. Annand, 1999) consists of two figures, one on either side of the road, each holding a curved pole. They evoke the town's industrial past. If these were extended a circle would be formed, thereby creating a gateway. The artist was inspired by Basingstoke’s close relationship with its European twin towns.
