Joe Willy and JohnHuersanger are said to be the first settlers. Theeastern portion of this township was burned over int87i, and the northwest corner in 1881. Both fireswere very destructive. The southeast and westportions of the township are rolling, the north has a clay loam soil, with some parts than half of the tcnvnship is now under culti-vatio
