Hierodula mantis (Hierodula sp.) near a river in a tropical forest. The Hieroldula mantises are praying mantises found throughout Asia. They are often referred to as giant Asian mantises. Mantises mainly prey on other insects, lying in wait in their 'praying' posture and striking with their front limbs. Photographed in Danum Valley, Sabah, Borneo, East Malaysia.
