Pine Brook Hills Water District Manager Bob de Haas
Water District Manager Bob de Haas engages the temporary watering system around the Pine Brook Hills dam and reservoir. The reservoir was initially filled in 2006 to help the small Pine Brook Hills foothills community handle drought periods. There are about 400 homes in the community. Difficulty keeping the flow of water continuous during periods of low precipitation prompted the water district's efforts to build the dam and reservoir. Climate change, in the area has perhaps increased the water availability problems in the western United States. Water from the reservoir also has helped fight forest fires in the mountains. During the four mile fire, specially-equipped helicopters dipped water from this reservoir. De Haas is credited with envisioning the reservoir and shepherding it through construction.
