The following have been partial successes: Redtop (Agrostis vulgaris), on damp, low soils; orchard(Dactylis glomerata), on good soil; English blue grass(Festuca pratensis), especially in shady, damp places;velvet grass (Holcus lanatus), Kentucky blue grass (Poapratensis), on good soils containing lime, and cresteddogtail (Cynosanrus crystatus). The following new and imported grasses have beenvery successful, but the seed are difficult to obtain: Hairy oat (Avena sterilis),
