The amount of air required per hour in living-rooms is estimated by Parkes at 3,000 cubic feet. In bath-rooms provision should be made for at least twice this amountof air, because of the great activity of the lungs and skin ofpatients during hydriatic treatment, and also because of thefact that the rooms are to be occupied by diseased persons,in consequence of which the air will become contaminatedmore rapidly than under ordinary circumstances. The maxi-mum number of patients likely to occupy the rooms at anyone time should be estimated, and provision made for 5,000to 6,000 cubic feet of air per hour for each person. The airshould be warmed before it enters the room. It may enter. Fig. 28. WATER COOLING APPARATUS (p. 398)
