WASHINGTON DC, United States - Early morning at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. Sitting on the western end of the National Mall, it commemorates the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. This photo was taken around the spring solstice. With the sun rising directly in the east, the light briefly shines directly onto the massive statue of Lincoln that sits deep inside the building.

It is at one end of the Reflecting Pool, a long, shallow water feature that, in still conditions, provides a perfect reflection of the Memorial.
