Transcription: General Hospital Springfield Mo Oct the 28th 1864 It is with pleasure that I again take my pen in hand to drop you a few lines to let you know how I am a geting along I am in tolerable health at this time and hope when these few lines comes to hand they may find you in good health yore letter of the 20th came to hand 2 days ago and I was truly glad to heare from you again and to hear that you was ageting along well I have also got a letter from home from my wife she said that they was all will it was dated Oct the 1st margret said that the country was full of bushwhackers that she saw some every day she said I need not look for a letter from her very often that father was tired of writing for her I supose that the reason he is tired of writing to me is that he dont like the way I wrote to him about going to vote for Mclellen[McClellan] well I tell you how it is if he wants to go to the devil with litle Mc and his coperhead friends he can go but he cant get me for one of the party I had as leave cut my throat and go to hell at once and if he dont want to write to me he can let it alone I am proud to think that you are a going to vote for old abe when you vote for him it aught to be one of the proudest moments of yore life I shall say nothing about the news as you know more about it than I do I hope our forces may capture Price and his whole army I dont know but I will go home this winter after May all get out of the country I think that I shall move my family to some other state next Spring I supose that father is tired of them and I would like for them to be out of that infernal reble hole I want to see them very much but I have one more year to serve yet if the war lasts that long but I dont think if old abe is elected that it will last more than six months longer then I hope to setle some where and enjoy the society of my wife and chil
