"Smith-God" is a metal sculpture by R. and , commissioned by Adair Houston in 1989. The inscription on the plaque attached to the plinth of the statue reads:- "HE MARRIES METAL TO METAL, GRACE TO FURY - IN THE WHITE HEAT OF THE FORGE. A DIVINE CRAFTSMAN - A GOD LIKE VULCAN, HEPHAESTUS, WAYLAND, VOLUNDR. HE IS A LONE WARRIOR - HAMMERING OUT WEAPONS OF CONFLICT AND DESIRE ON THE FIRES OF ANCIENT BATTLEFIELDS".
