COMBINED FUSE AND SWITCH-BOX EMPLOYED IN WIRINGTHE OMAHA SHOPS base and effectually prevents the entrance of water intothe controller. At the motors the conduits end in Gen-eral Electric connection boxes. The light wiring is also carried in conduit. In manyof the old cars the wires for the lights have been put inpipe conduit, carried under molding above the monitorwindows and across to the center of the car above the head-lining. In the accompanying illustration the cast junc-tion (4) is employed where the branch cross pipe to the center of the car is taken off, that conduit running: longi-tudinally above the monitor windows. The outlet box (5}and (6) brings the wires out of the conduit and into thecluster. The light wiring of the new cars is being installed inspecially constructed conduit (i) and (2). This conduit,built up of No. 14 gage iron, is 9/16 in. high and about
