Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 914,636, dated April 22,18T0 : application Tiled To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, Thomas A. Edison,of Menlo Park, in the State of New Jersey, have invented an Improvement in ElectricLights, of which the following is a specifica-tion. Electric lights have been produced by a coilor strip of platina or other metal that requiresa high temperature to melt, the electric cur-rent rendering the same incandescent. In allsuch lights there is danger of the metal melt-ing and destroying the apparatus, and break-ing the continuity of the circuit. My improvement is made for regulating theelectric current passing through such incan-descent conductor automatically, and prevent-ing its temperature rising to the melting-point,thus producing a reliable electric light by ren-dering conducting substances incandescent bypassing an electric c
