The transport ship Leviathan returning with over 3,000 soldiers, including some wounded, from World War One. The ship underwent maintenance in a dry dock in England and had its camouflage replaced with peace-time gray. Sailors can be seen on the stern of the ship, and a police patrol boat carrying the Mayor's Committee of Welcome and the New York Police Band is visible in the background. This photograph was approved by the censor on December 26, 1918.
