The colours indicate the glucose (blood sugar, 'GLU') level and the protein content ('PRO') of the urine. Here, the result is negative for both tests. The indicator chemicals used here are potassium iodide (for the glucose test) and tetrabromphenol blue (for the protein test). Enzymes are also used in the glucose test. Concentration ranges are given on the chart. High levels of glucose and protein in the urine can be an indication of diabetes. High protein levels can indicate damage to the kidneys.
