In 1832 he bought a newfarm near Jamestown, N. Y., onwhich he remained four years,when he sold his property andcame to Bennington, where homade the first purchase of govern-ment land in the township as atpresent organized, it being thesouthwest quarter of the south-west quarter of section 24, town-ship () north, range 2 east.
