Special 6 STATE COLLEGE SUMMER SCHOOL. emphasis will be laid on the study of common plants, insects, andbirds found in the vicinity. In the school-garden work, daily observations will be made of theplanting, growth, and care of flowers and vegetables in the generalgardens on the college grounds. In addition, specimen school-gardenswill be started in the spring and conducted during the summer. Asmall piece of land will be used for actual demonstration and practicein laying out and Chepuxet River with Pond. In elementary agriculture, there are gardens, orchards, cattle,horses, poultry, experimental plots, fields and groves to serve asmeans of instruction. A complete library for reference is also at hand. The home economics laboratory is well equipped and will be in daily use. The classrooms and laboratories of the various departments-chemistry, botany, zoology, etc.,—will be fully utilized. The corps of instructors will be drawn from the College faculty andthe Normal School, together with occasional lectures from out-sidespecialists. STATE COLLEGE SUMMER SCHOOL. 7 Excursions to points of interest will be arranged as,time and occa-sion may demand and permit. It is desired, however, that the schoolconstitute itself for serious work and do not degenerate into a meresummer outing. The boarding facilities of the College are adequate, and will meetall reasonable demands. Expenses. There will be no charge
