1959 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Convertible

Every year, just before the Super Bowl, Barrett-Jackson puts on one of the biggest auto auctions in the country. It has been several years since I have attended, primarily due to the threat posed by the COVID pandemic. There were a dozen or more huge tents to protect the majority of the vehicles to be auctioned off. Unfortunately, it was cloudy which made photography a challenge (because of low light levels) and it was quite chilly which challenged me to be selective in the choice of cars to photograph. Next up is a custom 1959 Ford Galaxie Sunliner convertible that underwent an extensive and comprehensive frame-off restoration from 2017 to 2019. Powered by a 2015 Mustang GT Gen 2 Coyote 435hp engine with 400 ft/lbs of torque. Convertible versions of standard sedans were common in those days — but when have you seen a current convertible version of a modern sedan? Like never. Years ago, this model year caught my early teen eyes with the integration of the backup light into the modest tail fin. A relatively large tail light (for that time) was encircled by a reflector making it look even larger. Finished in Gun Metallic (Nissan 2020 Code Kad - GUN), this vehicle is equipped with an Equestrian Prodigy interior and a black Stayfast convertible top. All receipts and manuals from the restoration are included with the purchase in two comprehensive books. This classic vehicle sold for $107,800.
