On digging to the west of the cemetery, we came tothe foundations of a wall (Plate ), so close to thedeposits of pottery that we c, ncluded the cemetery hadbeen surrounded by one. We were told that about twenty years ago a pavedroad (Plate ), about 4 feet wide, or thereabouts, wasfound running from the tumulus across the field in adiagonal direction towards the north-east.
