It would appear to be one of the missing figuresonce belonging to the Irish shrine of St. Manchan, When examining drawings of some of the tombs preserved in theisland of lona, that of the abbot Mackinnon attracted my notice ; thissuccessor of a long line of Culdee and Celtic clerics died 1500: ON Patricks crosses. 39 his tomb, similar to too many others at lona, has sustained seriousdamages, for an evil disposed person was detected, having broken off theface of the abbot, endeavouring to steal it.
