SPECKLED WOOD (Pararge aegeria) A butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found throughout Europe, extending through to central Asia. The caterpillar is yellow/green with a dark green stripe down the back and light and dark lines along the sides. Food plants include various grasses such as False Brome, Cock’s Foot, Yorkshire Fog and Couch Grass. The butterfly has a wingspan of It is dark brown in colour with creamy white patches on the wings.
