It seemsthat some of the judges have cut thisreddish pigment on yellow-shankedfowl as a defect, when in reality it isa most desirable quality and usuallyaccompanies rich, yellow legs in fowl. The Silver Wyandotte female re-ceives similar treatment in the lacedsections as the male, the descriptionof a laced feather being the same inboth. The color of neck is changedsomewhat. The shafts of feathers nowcalled for are white instead of maybe white which corresponds with thedescription of the male neck feather. The description of tail now reads:Black, greater coverts, black, lessercoverts, black, with white centers; theupper sides of top feathers edged withwhite. The white edging required. Silver Wyandotte Female, by B. N. Pierce in 18From ( Wyandotte Culture.) 46 AMERICAN POULTRY WORLD November, 1909 on these feathers is in the line of pro-gress. We believe with the trendtoward the Sebright type of lacingthat the greater coverts should also belaced i. e. described the same as thelesser coverts. Silver Wyandottes that are bred upto this new Standard ideal shouldprove remarkably beautiful fowl, adistinct advance over the older anddarker colored type. GOLDEN, WHITE AND BLACKVARIETIES Golden Wyandottes are now des-cribed in detail in the new Standard, the words, golden bay, being sub-stituted for silvery white, andwhite of the Silver Wyandotte;otherwise the description is the sameas for the latter. White Wyandotte plumage is nowdescribed as being:—Web, fluff andquills of feathers in all sections, purewhite, which is perhaps a trifle moreexplicit than the old of the eyes, shanks and toes isthe same as required on Silver andGolde
