Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - FREIHEIT EMSCHER urban development project. The cities of Essen and Bottrop, together with the owner RAG Montan Immobilien GmbH, want to transform former mining sites on the Rhine-Herne Canal and Emscher into an urban centre with commerce and industry, residential areas as well as green spaces and leisure facilities on the waterfront. Here, the former RAG flotation ponds on Gungstrasse between the B224 (left) and the Boye (right), a tributary of the Emscher.
