Medical nanorobots. Computer illustration of nanorobots at work in a human blood vessel. The vessel contains red blood cells (red discs) and two types of white blood cell (transparent spheres and yellow objects). The robots at upper frame carry drills to clear away any debris or clots that are blocking blood flow. A camera carried by the robot in the foreground may be transmitting wide-angle images to a surgeon. The nanorobot at upper right has a needle with which it can inject drugs into cancerous or infected cells, such as the one at lower right. Each nanorobot is powered by two small propellers.
