Arch of Galerius at night, Thessaloniki, Greece. This Roman triumphal arch dates from around 305 AD, during the reign of the Roman emperor Galerius. The arch includes marble sculpted panels marking a victory over the Sassanid Persians. The arch is aligned with the Via Egnatia, a Roman road that crosses the city. Photographed in 2009.
