The new one opened by the Education Minister (Mr. Bruce) in Brookes Street, Valley, yesterday afternoon cost £31,000. The new building contains six large, well equipped, and well-ventilated classrooms, and will accommodate 250 pupils. Built of brick, with plaster facings, the school embraces the latest in modern designs to ensure first-class conditions for pupils and teachers. There are ample amenities for physical training and recreation. The Works Minister (Mr. Power) said at the opening ceremony that the new school was one answer to those who criticised the State Government's school building programme. Mr. Bruce said that war and scholastic records showed clearly that the Queensland standard of education was as high as in any other part of Australia. The Public Works Department Under Secretary (Mr. Lyons) said that the Works Department was convinced there was nothing better in school design anywhere else in Australia.
