Robin Hood was a legendary outlaw in medieval England. With Little John (his chef archer), Friar Tuck, Maid Marian, and his band, he lived in Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire and robbed the rich to help the poor. This illustration shows Robin Hood and his men carrying a deer they have just shot, and the deer belonged to the King. They will, as was the custom so the tale goes, distribute the meat to the needy. The illustration dates to 1920.
