' Forewings yellow -ochrcous ; a median line parallel to termen, not reaching costa, a mark from dorsum before tenuis, and a line from § of costa to below middle of termen dark brown or blackish ; cilia sometimes mixed with blackish. Hind wings oehreous-orange mixed with blackish, dorsally clearer. Kent to Hants and Norfolk ; 0. and S. Europe, Asia Minor ; 6. Larva green; subdorsal line yellow, pink-edged above; Bubspiraoular yellowish ; spiracles white: on beech and oak; 8-10. 7. T0RTRICINA. Head with dense erect scales. Ocelli usually present. Eyes glabrous. Tongue usually developed. Antennae under if. Maxillary palpi rudimentary or obsolete. Labial palpi with second joint more or less rough-scaled, terminal rather short, obtuse.
