NGC 6164 emission nebula. Composite image of a bipolar-shaped nebula NGC 6164 (red), and its faint halo (blue). The red areas are emission nebulae, glowing as they are heated by stars. The blue areas are cooler nebulae, reflecting nearby starlight. These nebulae are 4200 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Norma. This composite image includes spectral data from hydrogen emissions (H-alpha) and emissions from doubly ionised oxygen (OIII), along with using the LRGB (luminance, red, green and blue) technique. Image data obtained by Fair Dinkum Skies, Western Australia.
