Eagle & Child House, Whitwell, Hertfordshire. This was formerly a public house. The bracket where the inn sign used to hang can still be seen. Its name comes from the crest of the Stanleys, the Earls of Derby. It bears the date 1747 which is the date it was enlarged. The rear of the building is much older.
