The Sirens attempt to lure the Greek hero Odysseus, bound to the mast of his ship, to their island.

In Greek mythology, the Sirens were three sea nymphs, and their sweet song lured sailors to veer off course toward certain shipwreck on the rocky coast where they lived, The Sirens then kept as prisoners the shipwrecked sailors. When Ulysses, also known as Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey, passed by the land, he had himself bound to the mast and the ears of his sailors blocked so that they could all pass by safely.
