An Ottoman silver-mounted shamshir, circa 1800, The blade of wootz Damascus with a one-sided fuller on the back, the base on the obverse with the maker's mark inlaid in gold (remnants). The quillons and grip mounts in silver, the grip covered with shagreen leather. The centre panel of the wooden scabbard covered in shagreen leather with decoratively embossed silver fittings (one suspension loop incomplete). Length 90 cm.
