Thenceforth hewas devoted to the career which he best loved and to theprofession of which he was so brilliant an ornament; andfrom that time the splendor of his success was such as to morethan meet the highest hopes of his many friends and ad-mirers. Untiring in the investigation of his cases, inde-fatigable and eloquent in their advocacy, never at fault inlegal warfare, thorough in his briefs and explorations
