Circular genome map. Map showing shared genetic material between human chromosome 1 (lower half of outer ring) and the entire mouse genome (upper half of outer ring). The chromosomes are based on standard ideograms and arranged in a circle. The coloured lines connect genes that are orthologous to one another. These are genes that have shared the same ancestry but may not necessarily now perform the same function. The numbers on the chromosomes represent scale bars. This map was created using Circos, software which visualises complex genetic comparisons between different species or within the same species.
