A general survey of the plant is then made, the studentsbeing conducted through the various manufacturing de-partments and being instructed in a general way as re-gards the different operations. The final part of the first days work is taken up withdisassembling the Utilitor, so that each student may learnthe names and functions of each of the various , the instructor gives a talk on disassembly, taking AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES THE AUTOMOBILE 225. Thestudents are encouraged to ask questions when any pointis not clear, so that when this short lecture is finished,they should be capable of properly disassembling a ma-chine themselves. Following the lecture, each student is given a tractorand is expected to properly disassemble it. This he doesentirely alone, the instructor, however, being present toanswer questions and make explanations. The second day begins with a lecture on Utilitor parts,illustrated in the same manner as was the lecture on gasengine principles. Following this talk, the students again-go into the shop to actually do sub-assembly work. In thisway they become familiar with the details of the variousparts and become proficient, through actual experience, inassembling them.
