Alaska and California Air National Guardsmen receive boats near Liberty, Texas Aug. 30, 2017 from Texas Army National Guard air crews assigned to the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, 36th Infantry Division. The service members were called up to assist with search and rescue efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The Guardsmen from Alaska and California team are assigned to the AKANG’s 212th Rescue Squadron and CAANG’s 129th Rescue Wing. Hurricane Harvey formed in the Gulf of Mexico and made landfall in southeastern Texas, bringing record flooding and destruction to the region.
