This is doubtless one of the best de-veloped ward units in Europe. In the Bispehjerg Hospital (Fig. 23),the ward unit is interesting, sixteen bedsbeing the largest ward. The entire de-sign of the group is simple and dignified,and rather different from the stereotypedstyles one sees throughout Nyrop has taken advantage ofthe natural contour of the land in the useof terraces, steps, and landscape effects. Allwards face the south and have oppor-tunities for wheeling patients into thebalconies and into the gardens. The bal-conies are spacious and comfortable withattractive boxes of flowers decoratingthem in summer. The service rooms areto the north, also the laboratory anddressing rooms. The day room is to thesouth, central with the unit.
