Steam power, as at present developed from wood and coal,costs $110 per horse-power per year; so the economy of electricpower installation is at once apparent. They have the usual gossan croppingson top, but only limited development work to show the extent ofsulphides. The Mammoth group, on Backbone Creek, has some recentdevelopment work, which indicates an extensive body of sulphide ore,showing at one point a length of 120 feet of ore along the lode, whichhas been cross-cut for eighty feet without showing the wall. It isthe property of R. M. Saeltzer, of Redding, and consists of eighteenclaims, with 640 acres of patented land. The Goslinsky Mine lies eastof the Mammoth, and has been bonded to Lewisohn Brothers, of NewYork, who have, for the past six months, been doing developmentwork on it. Considerable copper indications are shown on StillwaterCreek, but the largest deposit has been proven to exist at Bully HillMine, near Copper City. This property lies twenty-five miles north-e
