Beauties, Hadleys, Russells and fancy varieties all show sharp declines. Carnations show but little change from a week ago. Whites enjoyed a tem- porary rise for dyeing purposes for March 17. Violets are on the wane; the general run of flowers sell at 40 to 75 cents per hundred, but some fancies, well bunched, bring $1. There are large supplies of fine sweet peas and prices on these hold up well. Tulips are rather more plentiful, but daffodils sell out easily. Supplies of these are small this season. Freesia is Hearing the end, also Paper Whites. Anemones go slowly and pansies are harder to clean up. Callas are coming in abundantly, but sell well owing to the shortage of lilies. The bulk of the cattleyas sell at $50 per hundred. Some nice amaryllis is coming in. On As- paragus Sprengeri the scarcity is some- what relieved, but adiantum fronds real- ize high prices. A fine assortment of flowering plants is now coming in and they are in good demand. Various Notes. At the meeting of the Gardeners' and Florists' Club, March 25, "Fertilizers for Gardeners and Florists, and Their Uses" will be discussed by an expert.
