We paddled up a narrow creek at theNorth-East end of the lake, already crowded withlight-hearted holiday-makers. In some of theirboats there were from 50 to 60 people, all in thebest of humours. A pretty walk of about a mile along this channelbordered by willows and other trees and throngedon both banks by men, women and children in theirbest and brightest garments—some parties havingwith them dancing girls beautifully dressed—ledto the village of Shalimar through which
