NIU JIA KOU VALLEY, TAIYUAN, SHANXI PROVINCE, CHINA - August 2007: Young coal workers fill a delivery truck at a private mine at the top of the valley. Many of the small mines in this area have been closed by the government because they produce less than the 30,000 tons anually. Small private mines have a terrible accident record, leading to 70% of the industy's 6,000 annual fatalities while producing less than a third of the national output.
