Telangiectasia. Young child with a superficial venous telangiectasia on their face. This condition results in the blood vessels near to the skin's surface becoming enlarged, giving the skin a mottled red appearance. It is caused by the loss of the skin's supporting tissue. This can be due to overexposure to sunlight. Sometimes there is no obvious cause. Telangiectasia is not detrimental to the sufferer in most cases.
