Francis Atterbury (1663-1732) English prelate, polemical writer and orator, 1732. Atterbury became Bishop of Rochester in 1713. After the succession of George I (1714), Atterbury supported the Jacobite cause, and was exiled in 1723, dying in Paris 9 years later.
