Edwin Linton (1855-1939), US helminthologist. Linton specialised in the study of parasitic worms of marine fish. He studied at Yale University, obtaining his doctorate in 1890. He carried out most of his research at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL), Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA. He also carried out field work in Yellowstone Park, Beaufort (North Carolina), Bermuda and the Tortugas islands. Between 1882 and 1920 he taught geology and biology at Washington and Jefferson College, Pennsylvania. A research fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, he was awarded the Leidy Medal in 1937. Photographed at Woods Hole in 1921.
